looking for your roots?

A new research - this -- V. Interesting!!
And it leads one to believe that ....
- All of the human beings today have a common ancestor who lived around 2000 years ago...
- Around 5000 years ago, every human being alive today had exactly the same set of ancestors
--- Haven't we always known it - courtesy our Religion and the Father of all human beings

Wonder how Darwin would have reacted to this?

dude, this guy found out using a computer model that every person on the earth has a common ancestor who lived around 1 AD. how is that even possible. just one bloodline survived from just 2000 years back, that does not make sense!!

also i dont get it, what does this have to do wid the conflict beetween darwins theory and abrahamic religeons. acc to abrahamic relgeons, god created man after he created all the animals, however darwins theory suggests that animals evolved from a single cell organism and humans evvolved gradually from apes. Scientis still acknowledge the fact that most living humans origined from one human, who probably lived somewhere in africa

In the same article read

How can this be?

and 5-6 sentences thereafter ..simple maths yaar & its "common" "ancestor" .. meaning can be complex relns too

Darwin wasnt sure of a single common ancestor for humans. Read this --

In 1859, Charles Darwin's The Origin of Species was published. The views about common descent expressed therein vary between suggesting that there was a single "first creature" to allowing that there may have been more than one. Here are the relevant quotations from the Conclusion:

"[P]robably all of the organic beings which have ever lived on this earth have descended from some one primordial form, into which life was first breathed."

"The whole history of the world, as at present known, ... will hereafter be recognised as a mere fragment of time, compared with the ages which have elapsed since the first creature, the progenitor of innumerable extinct and living descendants, was created."

"When I view all beings not as special creations, but as the lineal descendants of some few beings which lived long before the first bed of the Silurian system was deposited, they seem to me to become ennobled."

I am not mentioning abt other scientists & u are correct abt them

The point is just imagine the peace and love in the world if every1 accepts that we "all" are descendants of a common ancestor..

And Darwin and other scientists hypothesis is against the religions cause the religions mention that God created Adam from dust...

Very interesting! Btw there was an article in the Times yesterday, about Brooke Shields and her ancestry. Is this the same study that was being referred to?

@pethe - i did read that article, but it didnt mention the name of the research... but it sure did seem strange!
http://worldroots.com/brigitte/famous/b/brookesancestorlist2.htm gives the list of her royal ancestors...
And i think her lineage is more because of her family tree documentation being preserved rather than calculations ... and calculations "cant" (hopefully) give you the exact names
