no title

The rains bring to the forefront (more lucidly) the blatantly careless attitude of people in general. Ever experienced people speeding their vehicles through puddles while you (alongwith some other morons slowly steer your vehicles)? Welcome to the real-world!! However, there always have been such dim-wits present, the difference is that their numbers have increased manifold (logically as the population has increased manifold, their numbers too have multiplied- makes sense)

Another aspect of the 'carelessness' is following traffic rules (rubbish - in poona, no traffic rules exist). Just happen to be a part of a traffic jam, and you will get more than a glimpse of it. People do not know and they refuse to understand the simple fact that when there is a jam, and the traffic ahead has come to a standstill, it makes absolutely no sense to move further and create more of an entanglement.
Last night, thanks to the super-heavy rains, signals were not functioning and you can only imagine the result. The traffic on the Pune-Solapur highway was actually still for a stretch of more than a km (i saw this length, while having to reroute because of the jam, may have been much much more. I am not sure how many hours it needed to disperse - divine intervention was needed for sure)

And its not just about others that people do not care, it is about themselves.
It has rained heavily. It is night. It is pitch-dark. You want to walk. Where would you do that? Right!! Absolutely in the middle of the road. No vehicle can hit you... The drivers have eyes and they can see in the dark. And it is not even remotely possible that they will be speeding, (yes, potholes filled with water). So, safely walk in the middle of the road. - I almost* dashed into humans (urghh) on three different occasions. And these are main, busy roads we are talking about....

As I have begun and almost compiled a list of complaints, let me add one more**. When you are indulging in a decent workout it 'ought to' have dips and pushups, and obviously these need to be carried out on the floor (and over a mat) . Now, people workout with shoes***. And like idiots walk over the mat with their shoes on. Yes, they themselves carry out the floor exercises on the same mat. Its like stamping on your bed with shoes on your feet, and then ignoring all the muck while sleeping on it.. Eeeek! Ok! you like dirt, others may not share your taste!! Atleast have the decency to remove them on the mat.. With the rains having started I can only hope that some sense prevails!

* must have been around 10 feet away, and was 55+kmph
** yes its me! and i am in a good mood
*** I havent seen people exercising their ankles and feet, which would require shoes. guess people are simply very HS .. the gym is pretty clean and small too

urdu - english

Of late, there seems to be resurgence in the use of Urdu words in film songs... Guess the song-writers can't do without employing the beauty and sweetness of Urdu
Some meanings of words that have found their way into 'hit-songs'...

shab-e-firaaq -- night of separation
rab -- creator, god
qurbat -- closeness, intimacy
rehguzar -- path
deedaar -- glimpse
kahkashaan -- galaxy
ibtadaa -- commencement
intehaa -- limit

I will try to keep posting meanings as soon as I find a decent amount of appealing words

reserve ......

The reservation issue seems to drag forever, and a solution seems nowhere in near-sight. Though, I have made my position about this quite clear

However, I personally do not endorse the manner of protests and their concomitants...
Doctors on hunger strike...107 hours of protests, 99 students collapsed, media prohibited from broadcasting on the issue, urgent need for help...Spread it like fire before it's too late...Youth For Equality

The hours' and students' figures might change & 'the collapsed may be replaced by die' but this message is making the rounds in mails, sms and instant messages. The forwarders in their new-found patriotism excitedly keep forwarding it. This 'apparently false' propaganda may be nothing but a publicity stunt, taken up to evoke frenzy.. A media channel tried to investigate its verity and the supposed-senders 'Youth For Equality' denied having sent it. The truth so remains concealed
[ more on this]

Also, being ignored are the hapless patients all over the country who are being dragged into this row. The protestors would argue that due to no fault of theirs (read caste) students would suffer too... But, this argument is as good as 'an-eye-for-an-eye' judgement. Already a few deaths have been reported due to the unavailability of doctors (there may be several others that have gone by unreported)

The worst part is (and the most comic one) is hearing people's views about the solutions...
Ban Central Government
Bring in a dictator
Let us all students leave India
etc etc .. the list keeps getting funnier

i wanted this post to be a short one, alas, I too have flown with the feelings [:D]

meaningless existence

Theres' been a lot of things I think about & this is just one of the topic I have made public. I will attempt to cover this topic in an organised manner

-- Existence -
What really is existence? From what I understand, this has been a topic of discussion since ages in the philosophical domain. And IMO existing is a simple phenomenon which is as mundane as being.... as continuing. Though the word doesnt have any negative connotation attached to it, it doesnt seem positive too

-- Living -
As I see it, living has much more attached to it compared to existing. The difference is visible even when you say these two simple statements
" I exist"
" I live"

-- Meaning -
As I said, existing is somewhat stagnant. Somewhere, attached to it is the absence of a purpose, kindof vegetative.
Living on the other hand, involves attempting do things differently, to try for betterment of you and others, to set and achieve goals. It is not a mere acceptance of facts and situations, but a struggle towards achievement. So, when your attitude becomes one of existing, there is an implicit meaningless associated with it.

-- Being -
Simple facts such as failures and successes are easier to digest when we accept a Greater Being (read God). I don't completely believe in the 'I am because of what I do' mentality. Somewhere down the line, the acceptance of God, gives a sense of security because theres' someone who is there with you, someone who will help you. True, that still 'A man's got to do what a man's got to do', yet the feeling is nonetheless beneficial.

bottomline: Move from Meaningless Existence towards a Meaningful Life

PS: I don't know how much of it makes sense to people, but this is just a small part of My thoughts ....
