Static electricity & me...

This winter has really been amazing. No, not the low temperatures, the cricket season and the blah blah... the topic of my focus is static electricity. I had read about static electricity(everybody has). I have even performed the comb & paper experiment innnumerable times (like everyone). I have known some people 'having voltage in them' & used to laugh at them...... coming back to the point -- I am beginning to experience that I myself have turned into this enormous storehouse of voltage.
Static electricity builds up throughout the day and almost invariably, every evening gives me a nasty shock.. Its been the door of my car since the last week ...that has caused me to jump around like a fool after just touching it..... Yesterday I didnt drive my car, so it was the knob of the door at home........
All these charge jumps have made my finger sore .. it still is .......

of cricket,dadagiri & more....

Alright, the Prince is in!! Kolkata is rejoicing!!! Maharjas' subjects elsewhere are jubilant too!!!! It is claimed to be a victory of sorts for Dada .. But, at what cost???

He "had" to praise the new captain, "had" to give an explanation the Nth number of time(N= a_very_large_number_whose_exact_value_is_immaterial) of his 'non-existent differences' with the coach, "had" to project himself as an all-rounder (whether he is/is not is again immaterial). The point i am trying to make is that i find it hard to believe that he is the person who was known for his attitude, the person who is without an iota of doubt the most-successful captain to lead the indian test team, the person who has more than 15,000 runs under his belt..

I am no fan of Saurav & have never been one. And his giving up of the state-captainship a day before the match perhaps only adds more reasoning to this. All said & done, a player/person of his repute & his stature should not have resorted to such gimmicks to get back into team-india. Well, 'actions do speak louder than words' ... and what wud have been the harm even if they hadnt. I think ganguly has achieved much-much more than anyone can even dream of. However, that the pride and attitude which he once possessed is lost is just a foregone conclusion....

Moral of the story: Do live your life with pride and attitude, but dont' beg to get things that ppl have refused to give you!!

Waking up (early)

I have never been a late riser, however, of late something seems to have gone awfully wrong with me. I have been trying to wake up before 6 am for more than 2 weeks (which by no means implies tht 7 is late). Alas!!I have been greeted by only failures!! I have tried every trick i cud think of -
  • using an alarm - this sounds pretty routine ..and it actually is.. shut it off & u r thru'
  • using 2 alarms - howz tht ?? naahhh... requires just a 'little' bit more effort to counteract
  • the conventional way of telling my ma to wake me up - she claims i didnt budge - so i decided to try to do things differently
  • sleeping at 10 pm .. wow ..tht nite i slept for 9 hours & was extremelyyy soporific for the entire day that ensued.. so tht was it!! what followed was an act of sheer desperacy
  • staying awake the whole night - this was tried last nite -- but i dozed off at 4.30 ..wht a shame!!!
Tomorrow is a new day, & i hope tonite i figure out a new(read effective) way to wake up

the 'SCHOOL' revisited

I had been to school today- my school - St.Vincent's. Had some work there. I 'can' say that I purposely went in the morning to reach before assembly. But as usual I was late to school & had to wait outside the gate (with many other late-comers :D). So, I heard & repeated (quite loudly it seems) 'Eternal God' & realized that I still remember it fully. The pledge & anthem followed & this time I ensured that bacche-log dont hear me repeat that too :) . When it got over the gate opened & fortunately, the students had to sign their calendars & i didnt. However, I did remember the numerous times i did get mine signed & many a times managed to escape witout getting an 'L' mark on it (thanx to the prefects).
I also saw quite a few new faces(read.. teachers) & some familiar ones too. Alas..i no more look as i did 4 years back & i do not hope that they will recognize me without me hinting them :)). I tried this with one teacher though & he was left trying to figure out because i dint give him any hint. Then i told him tht i am Zaki Mulla... his prompt reply was ohhh "Zaaki". & then i remembered my 'school-name' - Zaki - spelt with a single 'a' & pronounced with atleast 2 'a's. I had tried innumerable times but in vain to correct this 'pronounciation-mistake'. But finally had accepted that my name had been modifeid & so i kept my pronounciation of my name consistent with it....
I also went to the school-office & as i always did before had an 'interesting experience' there too.. but i guess i wud stop now ... coz i believe in wht one of my teacher did say 'too much is too bad!!' :D
